Biography

Deborah MPOMBOLO MBUNGU is a Lawyer admitted to the Bar at the Kinshasa/Matete Court of Appeal in the Democratic Republic of Congo since 2018.

She worked for Emery Mukendi Wafwana & Associates, SCP ("EMW&A"), an international African law firm established in the Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa, Lubumbashi and Matadi), South Africa (Johannesburg), the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville) and the United States of America (New York). She was on the editorial and scientific boards of JuriAfrique, an online legal magazine and portal for African law, Juridocs and Afrilex.

As a practicing lawyer, she advises, assists and represents national and international, public and private clients in the sectors of business law, mining law, banking, finance and insurance, energy and infrastructure, investment, trade and industry, aviation law, public procurement, information technology and telecommunications.

In her litigation practice, she advises and assists clients in various proceedings in the courts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in civil, commercial and labor matters, in administrative litigation brought to the Conseil d'Etat , as well as in litigation involving the "prise à partie" and "renvoi de juridiction" before the Court of Cassation.

She is involved in a number of mergers & acquisitions and financing transactions, in due diligence projects for the acquisition and/or issuance of mining and quarrying titles, and in obtaining the administrative authorizations required to operate in the mining sector. She also advises credit institutions, financial messaging services and electronic money institutions on the legal and regulatory framework applicable to their activities in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Furthermore, she assists a number of local and international non-governmental organizations operating or carrying out projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

She holds a Bachelor's degree (Bac+5) in Economic and Social Law from the Catholic University of Congo, and is currently studying for a Master degree in Business Law at the University of Lorraine.

She is fluent in French and English, and works in both languages.
